- FDP on “Implementation of the CBCS Syllabus for BA (Hons. and Gen.) in Education,”
Smt. Diethoseu Mepfhuo, Associate Prof. & HoD, Smt. Keweu Vupru, Associate Prof. and Dr. Benjongkumba, Associate Prof., from the Education Department, DGC attended the One-Day Faculty Development Programme on “Implementation of CBCS Syllabus of BA (Hons. & Gen.) in Education” organised by the Department of Education, NU Kohima Campus, Meriema on June 17, 2022.
2. Subject Topper Award, 2022
The Subject Topper Award of the Department of Education, DGC for 2022 was bagged by Ms. Aienla Jamir (AH19180052) who scored a CGPA of 6.35. The award which carries a Cash Award of Rs. 5,000/- and a Citation was handed over by the HoD on 25/07/2022.
3. Inter-Departmental Seminar
The Department of Education, in collaboration with the Research Committee, organised an Inter-Departmental Seminar on September 3, 2022, in Seminar Hall. Dr. Hare Krushna Parhi, Asst. Prof., and Dr. Benjongkumba, Assoc. Prof., jointly presented a paper titled “A Study of Intelligence in Relation to Academic Achievements of Undergraduate Students in Dimapur Govt. College: A Case Study”. The programme was chaired by Ms. Diethoseu Mepfhuo, Assoc. Prof. and HoD, Education Department, and a vote of thanks was pronounced by Dr. Yelhi Vero, Asst. Prof. and Convenor, Reseach Committee, DGC.
4. Education Department Extension Service
The Education Department visited Govt. Primary School, Senjum village, Dimapur (an adopted school of DGC) with 50 students of the BA 6th Semester Education major and 6 faculty members on March 8, 2023. The 6th Semester students were exposed to “practise teaching,” which is part of the curriculum, by engaging in different classes and activities like teaching, drawing, and singing with schoolchildren. While students were engaged in classes, the faculty members had an interaction with the school’s teaching faculty and encouraged them to improve the enrollment of students in the school. The visiting team also distributed notebooks, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, and sweets to all schoolchildren.
5. Formation of the ‘Education Club’
The ‘Education Club’ was formally launched by the Education Department on March 13, 2023, during a joint meeting with the Education Honours students of all the semesters in order to encourage and motivate the students to actively participate in academic activities. The following students were selected as office bearers for the 2023-24 tenure:
1. President : Tiayanger Ao (4th Sem)
2. Vice President : Rendemo Ngullie (2nd Sem)
3. General Secretary :Toto K. Awomi (4th Sem)
4. Assistant G.S : Arati (2nd Sem)
5. Treasurer : Easter Patton (4th Sem)

6. Extempore Speech Competition:
The Education Club conducted an extempore speech competition for its members on 4th May 2023 in which 11 students took part in the competition. The programme began with a brief introduction by the Teacher-in-charge, Ms. Limanaro, Associate Prof., who highlighted the importance of the event. The winners of the Extempore Competition are:
First position : Ms. Sorenbeni, 6th Semester
Second position: Mr. Tiayanger Ao, 4th Semester
Third position : Mr. Tsulemong, 6th Semester
7. Interactive Session with the Final Semester Honours Students
The Education Department organized an interactive session with its Final Semester students on 09/05/2023 at 2:00 PM in Room No. 1 where some of the students shared their experiences and aspirations. Ms. Diethoseu Mepfhuo, HoD, exhorted the students while Dr. Hare Krushna Parhi, Assistant Professor shared about the prospects after graduation. A special prayer for the graduating students was offered by Ms. Rebainla Ao, Associate Professor.
