- An interdepartmental seminar was conducted by the department on 17th Sept. 2022. Ms. Neisenuo Apon Rengma, Asst. Professor presented a paper title The Role of Indigenous Midwives among the Rengmas: A case study of Kandinu village. The principal, vice principal, 31 faculty members and history honours students of 6th semester attended the seminar.
2. The department of history organised a Student Seminar on the theme Locating Naga traditions and practises, Past and Present, on 1st October 2022. The topics presented were:
- Traditional Fishing : Renthungo Ngullie,5th Sem. Hons.
- Naga Tattoo: Leya, 3rd Sem. Hons.
- Naga Ornaments : Alovi, 5th Sem. Hons.
Students and teachers from Immanuel College and Unity College attended the seminar along with the Principal and faculty members of Dimapur Govt. College.
3. The history club organised WALKATHON, commemorating the 93rd year of Gandhiji’s famous Dandi March, on 11th March, 2023. The special guest of the event was Dr. Aotoshi, Managing Trustee, Mahatma Gandhi Ashram, Mokokchung. Over 200 students and faculty members participated in the Walkathon.
4. The department in collaboration with the history department of Unity College conducted a Panel Discussion on Illegal Immigration in North East India: Issues and Challenges, on 11th April, 2023. The panelist were Dr. RK Debbarma, Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, TISS, Guwahati, Dr. Khekugha Muru, Chairman, Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Limasenla Jamir, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Sociology Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung and Shaheen Ahmed, Independent Researcher. Faculty members and 6th Sem. history honors students’ of Unity College and DGC attended the programme.
5. A Talk on Management of NGOs for the CBCP students of 6th Sem. (BA & B.Com) was organised by the department, on 13th April, 2023. The guest speaker was Mr. Heshu Henry, Managing Director, Community Development Foundation, Dimapur. The programme was attended by faculty of history department and 70 students.
6. World Heritage Day was observed by the department by conducting an Essay Writing Competition on 18th April 2023. The topic was “Role of Youth in Preserving Cultural Heritage”. 92 students of 2nd, 4th and 6th semesters participated in the competition and 3 students were selected for the best essay. Cash reward was given to the 3 winners.
7. The 2nd semester honors students along with the teachers visited the Chumpo Museum on 11th May, 2023, to commemorate the International Museum Day. Dr. Rev. Father Abraham Lotha, the owner and curator of the museum talked through his exotic collection of Naga artefacts from different communities.
