Consolidated Report of Department of Education from 1st June, 2024 to 31st May, 2025
- Orientation Programme for B.A 1st Semester (Education Major) on 5th June, 2024
Following the general Orientation Programme held on 5th June, 2024 for the new batch, that is, B.A 1st Semester, a Department Orientation Programme for the B.A 1st Semester (Education Major) was conducted on the same day at Room No. 3 by the faculty members of the Department. Ms. Diethoseu Mepfhuo, HoD gave an introductory speech followed by a presentation on FYUGP structure by Dr. Hare Krushna Parhi. A highlight was also given on the Education Club activities by the teacher-in-charge of the club, Ms. Rebainla Ao.


2. Presentation of DGC Department Topper Award (Education) on 25th July, 2024
On the occasion of the 58th Foundation cum Graduation Day, Dimapur Government College held on 25th July at the College Auditorium, the Department of Education presented the DGC Department Topper Award (Education) to Mr. Toto K. Awomi who graduated with a CGPA of 6.43 in the Nagaland University B.A UG Final Semester Examination 2024. A cash award of Rs. 5,000/- and a citation was presented to the awardee by the department.

3. Orientation Programme for M.A 1st Semester on 19th August, 2024
An Orientation Programme for M.A 1st Semester was held on 19th August, 2024 at the Seminar Hall. The programme was chaired by Ms. Limanaro Amer, Assoc. Prof., welcome address was delivered by Ms. Diethoseu Mepfhuo, HoD, orientation on M.A course syllabus was given by Dr. Hare Krushna Parhi followed by orientation on the college library facilities by Mr. Neiketu Siam, Librarian, DGC. Prof. Sanjay Sharma, Principal also shared insights with the students in the programme. The programme concluded with a thanksgiving prayer by Ms. Rebainla Ao, Assoc. Professor.


4. Department Teachers’ Day Celebration on 5th September, 2024
The post graduate students of Education Department organized Teachers’ Day Celebration on 5th September, 2025 at the Seminar Hall for the teachers of the department. The programme was attended by all the faculty members and the post graduate students. The programme was also graced by the Vice Principal of DGC, Ms. Kezhaleu Hesso who delivered a speech. Short speeches were also delivered by five faculty members.


5. Freshers’ Day Programme for M.A 1st Semester on 7th September, 2024
Freshers’ Day Programme for M.A 1st Semester organised by the M.A 3rd Semester students was held on 7th September, 2024 at the Seminar Hall which was attended by all the faculty members and the post graduate students. The programme was entertaining featuring several performances from the students. Apart from this, the Head of Department, Ms. Diethoseu Mepfhuo exhorted the students. The programme was graced by the presence of Prof. Sanjay Sharma, Principal and Ms. Kezhaleu Hesso, Vice Principal, DGC.



6. Extempore Speech and Essay Competition on 4th October, 2024
In commemoration of Gandhi Jayandi (155th Birth Anniversary), the Education Club organised an Extempore Speech and Essay Competition on 4th October, 2024 at the Seminar Hall on the theme ‘Gandhian Thoughts of Education and its Relevance in Today’s Context’. The winners of the competitions were:

7. M.A 1st and 3rd Semesters Seminar Paper Presentation from 4th – 9th October, 2024 and 21st – 24th October, 2024
As per the requirements of the Nagaland University Post Graduate programme, Seminar Paper Presentation was conducted for both semesters of M.A (Education) where each student participated. The Seminar Paper Presentation for M.A 3rd Semester was held from 4th – 9th October, 2024, and from 21st – 24th October, 2024 for the 1st Semester. The paper presentation has enabled students to engage in an in-depth study of the topics and has also enhanced their communication and presentation skills.

8, M.A 3rd Semester Synopsis Presentation on 14th November, 2024
Synopsis presentation was conducted on 14th November, 2024 at the Seminar Hall for the three M.A 3rd Semester students undertaking dissertation. Students of both M.A 1st Semester and M.A 3rd Semester along with the faculty members of the Department attended this programme. The programme was chaired by Ms. Rebainla Ao, Assoc. Prof. The synopses presented were as follows:
- “A Study on Wastage and Stagnation in Government Elementary Schools of Dimapur District”– Presented by Aman Sharma
- “A Study on the Teaching Aptitude and Attitude towards Teaching Profession of Diploma in Elementary Education in Assam” – Presented by Prakash Gurung
- “Quality of Government Higher Secondary Education in Dimapur District of Nagaland” – Presented by Mutsoi Khiamniungan




9. M.A 4th Semester Educational Trip to Little Kids School, Diphu on 21st February, 2025
The students of M.A 4th Semester were taken on an educational trip to Little Kids School, Diphu, Assam on 21st February, 2025 by the Department of Education. They were accompanied by five faculty members on the trip. The students participated in teaching practice sessions in several classes of the school where they gained hands-on experience on understanding effective classroom transactions and learner dynamics. An Interactive Session between the faculty members of the Department of Education, DGC and the teachers of Little Kids School was also held. The interactive session facilitated sharing of insights and Q&A between the visiting team and the teachers of the school.




10. Visit to Old Age Home (A House of Friendship) on 26th March, 2025
Based on the theme “Spreading of Joy and Love”, the Education Club paid a visit to “House of Friendship” (Old Age Home) located at Landmark Hill View Colony, Dimapur on 26th March, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. A total of 13 students and 2 faculty members visited the Old Age Home. The students enthusiastically participated in various activities like sharing experiences, songs, delivered motivational talk on love and joy, living a happy life and learning to live together, with the members of the home. It was a very blessed and enriching experience for the students as well as the members of the Old Age Home.



11. Cultural Day Programme on 15th April, 2025
As part of the departmental activities, a Cultural Day programme organised by the Education Club was held on 15th April, 2025 on the theme “Exploring Cultural Heritage through Education” at the college auditorium which was attended by the UG students of Education Department from all the semesters and faculty members. The event featured presentation of songs, cultural dance, and talks on cultural food and heritage by the students. The programme was also followed by the election of new members of the Education Club.




12. Orientation on Career Progression for Graduating students, 2025 on 17th April, 2025 at CIHSR Conference Hall, Dimapur.
An Orientation Programme on Career Progression for the graduating students of Education Department, 2025 was held on 17th April, 2025 at CIHSR Conference Hall, Dimapur to provide insights into the career opportunities in counselling. The programme was chaired by Ms. Rebainla Ao, Assoc. Professor, Department of Education, DGC. A presentation was delivered by Prof. Nukshijungla Ao, Vice Principal (GNM), College of Nursing, CIHSR who gave an introduction to the College of Nursing, CIHSR, and gave an overview on the eligibility criteria, fee structure, admission process and programmes offered in their College of Nursing. The second speaker for the session was Ms. Imlibenla Mongro, Clinical Psychologist, CIHSR who gave a presentation covering many aspects of counselling, and highlighted diverse career prospects in counselling and rehabilitation like
Special Educator, Clinical Psychologist, Rehabilitation Psychologist, Psychiatric Social Worker, Vocational Trainer, Sign Language Interpreter, and Community based Disability Worker. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks pronounced by Ms. Diethoseu Mepfhuo, HoD, Department of Education, DGC. Through this programme, the students gained valuable insights and new perspectives on career options.




13. M.A 2nd and 4th Semesters Seminar Paper Presentation from 22nd – 25th April, 2025 and 28th April- 2nd May, 2025
In accordance with Nagaland University requirements, Seminar Paper Presentation was conducted for both semesters of M.A (Education) where each student participated. The paper presentation was successfully delivered by M.A 2nd Semester students from 22nd to 25th April, 2025, and from 28th April to 2nd May, 2025 by the M.A 4th Semester students. The paper presentation has enabled students to engage in an in-depth study of the different topics and has also enhanced their communication and presentation skills while also encouraging them to engage in discussions.
14. One Day State Level Consultative Meeting on ITEP, NMM & NPST on 25th April, 2025
A One Day State Level Consultative Meeting on “Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) and National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST)” in the context of NEP 2020 and NCTE 2025 Norms and Regulations organised by Department of Higher Education, SCERT and School Education, Nagaland was held on 25th April, 2025 at SIEMAT Hall, SCERT, Kohima. As invited by the organisers, the meeting was attended by three members representing the college- Ms. Kezhaleu Hesso, Principal-in-Charge, and two faculty members from department of Education- Ms. Diethoseu Mepfhuo, Assoc. Professor & HoD and Ms. Kilangsungla Pongener, Assistant Professor. The meeting was also attended by representatives from several other Government colleges and schools.
In the inaugural programme, a short insightful speech was delivered by the Special Invitee, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor, School Education & SCERT, Govt. of Nagaland. The keynote address was delivered by the Resource Person, Dr. Dibyajyoti Mahanta, Chairperson, Eastern Regional Committee-National Council for Teacher Education (ERC-NCTE), New Delhi in which he highlighted the need for ITEP, its framework and prerequisites, the current scenario of ITEP and related matters. Following the lunch break, the meeting attendees and the Resource Person engaged in an in-depth discussion exclusively on ITEP where several queries were addressed.





15. Farewell programme for M.A 4th Semester on 13th May, 2025
Farewell programme for M.A 4th Semester (2023-2025 batch) organised by the students of M.A 2nd Semester was held on 13th May, 2025 at the Science Block. The programme was attended by both M.A students and faculty members of the department. The programme was marked by songs from the students, prayer, and speeches from the HoD and outgoing students followed by lunch. The farewell programme was a warm and successful event.




16. Presentation of Dissertation by M.A 4th Semester students on 19th May, 2025
The three M.A 4th Semester students undertaking dissertation presented their dissertation on 19th May, 2025 in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the postgraduate degree. The session was attended by the faculty members of the Department. The dissertations presented were as follows:
