Strengths:
- Adequate faculty strength.
- Dedicated and experienced faculty members.
- Positive mutual relationships among the faculty and with the students and authority.
- A good number of research publications.
- The department offers postgraduate programme.
- The faculty members’ capacity to serve as leaders of various college committees.
Weakness:
- The participation of faculty in National and International-level seminars and conferences is very limited.
- Faculty members’ involvement in research-related projects is still deemed to be lacking.
- Insufficient number of books and reference materials for the PG level.
Opportunities:
- Organise seminars by inviting participants from other departments that broaden the mental horizons of the teachers.
- With faculty members having research experience, the department has the opportunity to participate as resource persons in various programmes.
- The department has the potential to groom and train the students in various leadership skills.
- With the introduction of the PG programme, there is scope for augmenting research-related work.
- To help the institution cope with the changing pattern of education as per the NEP 2020.
Challenges:
- Handling the large number of students opting for the subject every year without compromising on the quality of education.
- To increase the intake of students at the postgraduate level.
- To maintain a database to track the academic and career progression of graduates from the department.
