REPORT ON INAUGURATION OF RETAIL SKILL MANAGEMENT CENTRE LAUCHNCED BY DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, DIMAPUR GOVT. COLLEGE.
A “Retail Skill Management Centre” which was set up by the Dept. of Commerce was launched on 20th April,2026 at the Commerce Block. In a short address Mr. Biswajit Sarkar (Convenor of the RSMC) emphasized the importance of getting skilled alongside basic academic knowledge. He gave a clarion call to the students to seize this opportunity, learn, experiment and innovate. In a short exhortation presented by Mr. T. George Kire (HOD), it was outlined that all the students should learn about financial accounting and business management practically while pursuing their academic endeavors.
The Inaugural program was endowed with the presence of Mr.Temjensoba Imsong, Addl. P.S to Minister of Higher Education, Govt. of Nagaland whereby he highlighted that in this Era where people after getting their degree or Post graduation degrees are at a crossroad when it comes to employment or employability, the Government is giving high priority in developing skills and therefor everyone should avail the opportunity provided by the Govt. in skilling oneself.
The Inaugural speech was delivered by Dr. T. TIAKABA Jamir (Principal, Dimapur Govt. College) wherein he acknowledges the initiative of the Commerce Department to come up with this promising Centre. He categorically mentioned that Skilling is now being prioritized and encouraged by the Government and is also an important objective of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Digital marketing is also the need of the hour and hence everyone should upgrade and learn accordingly.
After the speech, the Centre was inaugurated in the presence of all faculty members and students with pomp and gaiety.
