DGC Bids Farewell to Dr. Meripeni Ngully, Vice Principal on 02.06.2026
Ringing bells, shuffling of feet, eager students, registers and boards are common yet special features of teaching. Dr. Meripeni Ngully, from the department of History, DGC started her teaching career with blackboards and chalk but poignantly leaves as a Vice Principal with ICT enabled classrooms and digital learning.
Dimapur Government College’s much beloved Vice Principal was given a befitting farewell emphasizing that retirement is not the end of life but the beginning of something exciting and enriching. Few have surpassed the excellent professionalism and dedication of Dr. Meripeni throughout the 32 years of her teaching/administrative career. Reliving her time in the college, members of the DGC community could not help but reflect on her sharp wit, intelligence, knowledge, commitment and sincerity and her wonderful gift of touching the lives of colleagues and students alike. The quality of meticulousness in her professional work that left no room for mediocrity will always be a goal to achieve. Her legacy as an educator and as a caring nurturer will always be remembered.
Dr. Ngutoli Swu, Asst. Professor, Department of History, DGC, chaired the programme, followed by heartfelt speeches from Principal, Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir, on behalf of HoDs, Mr. T. George Kire, HoD, Department of Commerce, on behalf of IQAC by Ms. Jimokali Zhekheto Zhimomi, Secy. on behalf of DGC Teachers’ Association by Dr. Phukato Sema, President, on behalf of History Department by Ms. Lily Rino, HoD, on behalf of ministerial staff, Mr. Ashok Kumar Jain, Sr. HA, on behalf of retiree friends by Ms. Sedevino Jakhalu, former HoD, Department of Political Science, Mr. Neiketu Siam, Librarian, and students. The programme solemnly ended with a prayer of blessing by Dr. A. Sentiyula, HoD, Department of English, DGC.
