Teachers Day Celebration – Economics Club, 3-09-26

The Economics Club of the department of economics, Dimapur Government College, celebrated Teachers’ Day on 3rd September 2026 with great enthusiasm and gratitude to honour the teachers for their invaluable contribution towards shaping the lives and future of students. The programme was conducted in a warm and celebratory atmosphere compered by Mr. Imnalong Jamir, BA 5th sem and General Secretary, Economics Club and Miss Tunami Zhimo, BA 3rd sem  and Information Secretary, Economics Club, who guided the proceedings and coordinated the various segments of the celebration.

The programme commenced with an invocation delivered by Miss Arina Yaden, BA 7th sem, seeking God’s blessings for the programme and all those present. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Miss Lingoi Phom, BA 5th sem and President Economics Club, who warmly welcomed the teachers, students and guests and expressed gratitude for their presence. A group song was presented by the 1st Semester students as a gesture of appreciation and respect towards the teachers. The musical presentation created a pleasant and joyful atmosphere among the gathering.

Following this, Miss Vibeinuo Ratsa BA 5th semester, delivered a speech highlighting the importance of teachers and their role in guiding, inspiring and shaping students. The speech expressed heartfelt appreciation for the dedication, patience and wisdom of the teachers.

The programme then proceeded with special prayers for the teachers led by Mr. Takusunep Pongen of 5th sem English department and Prayer Secretary, EUDGC. The prayers sought blessings, good health and continued strength for the teachers in their service and contribution to the academic community.

Following the special prayer, a cake-cutting ceremony was held in honour of the teachers. The ceremony was a joyful and memorable part of the celebration, with the teachers and students coming together to mark the occasion and express their appreciation and affection towards the teaching faculty.

After the cake-cutting ceremony, the programme continued with a special appearance by the DGC Boys Hostel. Their presentation added an entertaining and lively atmosphere to the celebration and was warmly received by the audience

This was followed by the spare time session, which provided an opportunity for the teachers and students to interact and Dr. Vinyühu Lhoungu, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, expressed appreciation on behalf of the faculty to the students of Economics Department and Executive Members of the Economics Club for honouring the teachers in an overwhelming manner. He also encouraged students to organize more activities to showcase their talents and creativity while also urged the students to participate in various activities the college has been conducting relating to skill and personality development.

The programme then proceeded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mughakivi Swu, BA 3rd sem and Vice President, Economics club. He expressed sincere gratitude to the teachers for their constant guidance and support and thanked the students, participants, organizer’s and everyone who contributed to the successful celebration..

The programme concluded with the benediction delivered by Mr. Laminsang Gangte, BA 5th semester economics department, seeking blessings and bringing the official proceedings to a meaningful close.

The celebration was thereafter followed by refreshments, where the teachers and students gathered together and enjoyed the occasion. The Teachers’ Day celebration was a memorable and meaningful event, providing the students with an opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the teachers for their invaluable contribution to their education and personal growth.
