1. Introduction: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Dimapur Government College, in collaboration with the Alumni Association, undertook a campus beautification initiative around ‘College Bites Restaurant area’. The activity was aimed at improving the appearance of an important campus junction while encouraging students to actively contribute towards cleanliness, environmental care and community welfare.

2. Objectives of the Activity

  • To enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area surrounding ‘College Bites’.
  • To create and maintain attractive flower beds within the college campus.
  • To encourage students to participate in practical community-service activities.
  • To promote awareness about cleanliness, greenery and responsible use of common spaces.
  • To strengthen cooperation between the NSS Unit, students and the Alumni Association.

3. Description of the Activity: As part of the initiative, NSS volunteers and student participants worked together with the Alumni Association to develop flower beds around ‘College Bites’. The students were involved in practical work such as preparing the designated area, arranging the flower beds, planting flowers and improving the surrounding space. The activity provided an opportunity for students to take part in hands-on community service rather than limiting their participation to awareness activities.

4. Participation and Community Engagement: The activity reflected the spirit of NSS through active student participation and voluntary service. The involvement of the Alumni Association further strengthened the sense of cooperation between the college community and its alumni. Students worked collectively and contributed their time and effort towards creating a cleaner, greener and more welcoming campus environment.

5. Outcome of the Activity: The beautification project improved the visual appearance of the area around ‘College Bites’ and created a more pleasant campus junction for students, staff and visitors. The newly developed flower beds also contributed to the greenery of the campus. More importantly, the activity encouraged students to understand the value of collective responsibility, environmental care and voluntary service.

6. Conclusion: The beautification and flower-bed development activity was a meaningful initiative undertaken in the spirit of community service. Through the joint efforts of the NSS Unit, student volunteers and the Alumni Association, the area around ‘College Bites’ was made more attractive and environmentally friendly. The activity demonstrated that small, practical efforts can make a positive difference to the college campus and helped strengthen the values of service, cooperation and responsibility among students.7.
