The last morning assembly of Dimapur Govt. College for the current semester was held on the 23rd of Sept, 2019 in the college auditorium at 8.30 am. The assembly was conducted by the DGCSC. The assembly was also the last for Principal of the college, Ms. Kavili Jakhalu who will be retiring soon.
A minute’s silence was observed as a sign of respect for late Qhevikali Chishi, a 3rd semester student of DGC who passed away on 14 of Sept, 2019.
A farewell song was also sung in memory of the departed student, the present DGCSC whose tenure is coming to a close, and also for the retiring principal. In her farewell speech the principal challenged the students to know and be clear about “who they are” and “what they want to become.” Further, she exhorted the students to inculcate the culture of reading apart from studies so as to be successful in life.
The Principal, in memory of the departed student Qhevikali Chishi, donated a sum of Rupees one lakh to start a “Students’ Medical Emergency Fund” to help students in need medical aid. She also donated a sum of rupees twenty thousand to the outgoing DGCSC. The assembly concluded with the DGCSU leading the college anthem.
