Dimapur Govt. College, Dimapur along with the rest of the country celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with much fervour. The National Tricolor was hoisted by the Principal of the College Ms. Kavili Jakhalu which was immediately followed by the singing on the National Anthem. This was followed by a speech from the Principal. In her speech she highlighted the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to make India a democratic country, as a result of which we are enjoying many liberties erstwhile denied to us. She also stated that India believes in unity in diversity and this should be respected. She urged the gathering to become responsible citizens as agents of change in addressing the many ills prevalent today.
Leading the guard of honour and the parade was the NCC wing of the college, which made the celebration more patriotic and auspicious. The celebration was attended by teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
