A short program for laying of foundation stone for Dimapur Govt College Girls’ Hostel annexe was held on 18th September, 2019 at the DGC Girls Hostel premises.

Ms.Diethoseu Mepfhou, Convenor, Girls Hostel Management Board (GHMC), gave a brief speech on the necessity for an extension of the girls’ hostel as seats were extremely limited. She highlighted on the developmental works that has been carried out since November 2018. Earlier, under private management, the hostel had a capacity of 40 seats. After it came under college management in November 2018, the seats have been increased to 52. With the completion of the new project the committee is hoping to add 20 more seats.

This project is being funded through the contributions of the DGC faculty members in the form of soft-loans and donations. The Principal, Ms Kavili Jakhalu has also donated Rs.100000/-(One lakh rupees) and Dr Jamedi Longkumer, Assistant Professor, Philosophy, donated 50 pieces of CGI sheets. Besides the members of DGC, Bokajan Cement Factory has donated 60 bags of cement as part of their community extension service. The hostel committee has also appealed to the Assam Rifles for their support towards the project.

The Principal in her address appreciated the hostel committee for their tireless services towards the functioning of the hostel. She acknowledged the pioneers who initiated the girls’ hostel and also thanked the faculty for their generous contributions towards the project.

The program was chaired by Ms Lily Rino, Assistant Professor, History, and Member, GHMC.
