The Research Committee of Dimapur Government College organised an inter-departmental seminar which was conducted by the department of Commerce on the 19th of March, 2022. The program was chaired by Assistant Professor, Imkongmenla Longkumer and a paper on ‘Bio-Medical Waste Management and Disposal System: A Review’ was presented by Assistant Professor, E. Lichumthung Kikon in the Seminar Hall of the college.

Kikon, in his presentation, cited the consequences of unethical and unlawful bio medical wastes from various healthcare units throughout India. These careless disposals of medical wastes are noted to be highly toxic and infectious leading to the spread of various diseases like AIDS (HIV) and Hepatitis among others. The presentation also focused on the waste management practices followed by various states in India. This was followed by a lively discussion with the audience comprising of the Principal, faculty and students of the college.

The HoD of the department of Commerce, Associate Professor, Biswajit Sarkar proposed the vote of thanks.
