Cultural Day cum Pre-Summer Fest 2022 celebrated in DGC from 1st to 2nd April 2022

Dimapur Govt. College celebrated ‘Cultural Day cum Pre-Summer Fest 2022’ in the DGC Ground on the 1st & 2nd of April 2022 under the theme ‘Reinstating our Culture’. On the first day, literary events like extempore speech, debate and poetry competitions were conducted during the first session. The Principal of the college, Dr. M. Libanthung Ngullie, in his welcome speech spoke on the theme and how it ties up with the importance of maintaining culture, elaborated on the various dimensions of culture and the ways in which cultural days are celebrated. He also expressed his happiness that the state government was encouraging expressions of culture in higher educational institutions.  In the second session, the Lotha, Ao, Eastern Nagaland, Manipuri, Sumi, Gorkha, Kuki and Tenyimi (with folk song) communities performed different folkdances. On the second day, students showcased their talents through songs, dances and even a magic show. Guest artists like Eva Jamir, The Paradigm Shift and artists from other colleges also entertained the gathering comprising of faculty, staff and students.

Poetry Competition:

Winner: Gaigong (City College of Arts & Commerce, Dimapur)

Extempore Speech:

1st  : Nisheli (Pranabananda Women’s College, Dimapur)

2nd : Soyimongla (City College of Arts & Commerce, Dimapur)

3rd  : Vitoka Chishi ( Dimapur Govt. College, Dimapur)

Debate competition:

1st  : Chunchun ( Dimapur Govt. College, Dimapur)

2nd : Pauleuhing ( Dimapur Govt. College, Dimapur)

3rd  : Susmita Deb ( SD Jain Girls’ College, Dimapur)
