General Secretary’S Report for AQAR 2023-24

The Dimapur Government College Students’ Council (DGCSC) has tirelessly been contributing and striving for the welfare and promotion of the students of the college in every field ranging from literary to sports activities etc.

               Under the DGCSC (2023-24), the following activities and development have taken place bringing laurels to the college:

  SOCIAL, CULTURAL, SPORTS, TOURS & OTHER EVENTS (JUNE 2023-MAY 2024)

1. JUNE, 2023 

1. Students and faculty members of Shiv Sena College of Education, Faridabad, Haryana Under ‘National Integration Tour’ on 2^nd June, 2023 were welcomed by the DGCSC at the college seminar hall where a special program was organized by the DGCSC which highlighted about the traditions, foods, cultures and many more. An interactive session was also conducted between the students of the colleges.
2. Miss Jime Shiu of Bcom 3^rd Semester was crowned the title, ‘Miss Grand Northeast (Sterling) 2023’ which was organized by Fashion Wizards Event at Guwahati, Assam on 4^th June, 2023.
3. 8 Executive members of DGCSC had been part of the Yuva Sangam Phase-II Initiative for a tour to Chattisgarh from 18^th June to 22^nd June, 2023.

2. JULY, 2023

1. Mr. Visasier Hozoyeh of B.A 6^th Semester (B.A General) was awarded Merit performance certificate for his one of the best essay writings on the topic ,’My opinion of Elections in Nagaland’ which was organized by Chief Electoral Office, Kohima ,Nagaland. Essay writing was held in the month of February, 2023 and results got declared in July, 2023.
2. Mr. Bambe Doson of B.Com 5^th Semester was awarded certificate & prizes for his  best video making challenge on the topic ,’My opinion of Elections in Nagaland’ which was organized by Chief Electoral Office, Kohima ,Nagaland. Video making challenge was held in the month of February, 2023 and results got declared in July, 2023.
3. Miss. Hatneinem Khongsai of B.A 5^th Semester from the department of History created a Guiness World Record along with her team –Faith in action Martial Arts Academy for ,’The Highest Martial Arts Kick(Assisted)’ on the 5^th of July,2023 on the stage of India’s Got Talent (IGT).

4. The Dimapur Govt. College Cricket Team (DGC Cricket Team) participated in the ‘1^st Inter-College Champions Trophy 2023’ which was organized by Chumukedima & Dimapur Cricket Association under the aegis of Nagaland Cricket Association(NCA) from 17^th to 22^nd of July,2023 and emerged as Runners Up. Alok Sharma (Captain) of DGC was awarded the ‘Best Batsman Award’ with 251 scores, who also received 3 times ‘Man of the Match’ certificate in recognition of his contributions to the team.

5. 4 DGCSC Executives attended the Freshers’ Day of Unity College on the 21^st of July,2023.

3. AUGUST, 2023

1. DGCSC along Lito H Achumi, Nagaland University Topper from Dimapur Government College attended the 44^th ANCSU Foundation Day Cum Degree Toppers Felicitation program held in State Academy Hall, Kohima.
2. DGCSC led by its General Secretary and Vice President had a fruitful meeting with the Director, Department of Higher Education, Nagaland and submitted an application on 2^nd of August, 2023 pertaining to the issues faced by the students of the college. 
3. The students of Dimapur Government College participated in a video making competition which was organized under the theme of ‘Uncovering something unique, valuable or meaningful which is often overlooked or hidden in plain sight.’                               

Anjana Limbu of BA 4^TH Semester, Dept of Education Secured 1^st Position and   Aloinoli I Sumi of BA 6^TH Semester, Dept of Political Science Secured 2^nd Position.

4. SEPTEMBER, 2023

The Dimapur Govt. College Students’ Council celebrated its 56^th Annual Freshers’ Meet on 8^th Sept,2023 at the college auditorium. The special guest for the event was Mr. Yanpvuo Kikon, Founder of East West Logistics, Kikonic Tech, Kley Enterprise and Kohima Lead Generation Centre.

5. OCTOBER, 2023

1. The Dimapur Govt. College Students participated in the 2^nd St. Joseph University Trophy (an inter- College/ University tournament), organized by St. Joseph University, Chumoukedima, from 5^th – 7^th October 2023.

The College sports team participated in the following games-

(1). Volleyball (Male)

(2). Volleyball (Female)

(3). Football (Male)

(4). Basketball (Male)

(5). Basketball (Female)

  The college Volleyball team (womens) and Football Team emerged as a  CHAMPION in the Trophy. The Football Team won the final by playing against by Patkai Christian College, Chumukedima. The Volleyball Team (female) won the final by playing against ICFAI University. The College Football Team won the final by playing a penalty, after a tough match against their opponent. The Volleyball Girls team won by winning two consecutive matches against their opponent. The College emerged as the OVERALL CHAMPION by winning two Championship, FOOTBALL and VOLLEYBALL(female), and two individual awards namely; BEST GOAL KEEPER AWARD (football), and BEST PLAYER AWARD (Volleyball female).

2. An Inter – College District Debate Competition was conducted at Unity College on the topic “ Uniform Civil Code”  on 7^th of Oct. 2023; wherein two of our student participated and thereof Mr. Chingmei. A . konyak won with the first position at the debate competition.

6. November, 2023

1. Introducing the in-build project by the Dimapur govt college students council. In a pioneering initiative , the DGCSC, had a dream infrastructural project of all students of DGC was inaugurated . it was historic moment for all students of DGC as it is now an annual project established in 2023 under the motto where ideas build . This project represents a monumental step toward enhancing not only academics but also college infrastructure . The project highlight is the newly inaugurated drinking water facilities , catering to the need of our students and contributing to a plastic free Dimapur.
2. A quiz competition (intercollege)organsied by debate and quiz club st john college Dimapur ;thereby , two of our students participated and secured first position on the 11^th of march 2024 .

7. FEB 2024

1. First of its kind, the harbinger fest by Dimapur Govt college was organized from 6^th Feb – 10^th of Feb 2024 , the 5 day events includes sports ,literary and cultural events .

2 . On 16^th feb 2024 the newly elected council members along with the CRs and DRs organized social work including the bathrooms, DGCSC office, boys common room and girls common room.

3 . The DGC participated in the 2^nd patkai trophy hosted by the Patkai Christian Christian college Autonomous , chumokedima from 29^th Feb -2^nd march 2024 wherein DGC emerged as the champion in womens volleyball and football men .

 8. MARCH 2024

1. The general secy and the girls common room secy attended the 10^th cultural day program at Mount Mary college on 2^nd march 2024.
2. The general secy. asst general secy , women coordinator and representative to DNSU attended the Ekarathin Fest organized by NIT on 1^st march 2024.
3. DGC students along with the students council participated in the Alcheringa fest IIT Guwahati from 7^th – 10^th march 2024. DGC  emerged as the winner in the Alchercon (cosplay) and singing competition.
4. The DGCSC met the director of higher education  on 21^st march 2024 addressing the issue of the college bus , central library and collapsed wall.
5. DGCSC  executives attended the first union ANCSU assembly held on 9^th march 2024, where the representatives brought up certain issues of the students.
6. Two students of DGC participated in the quiz competition organized by the debate and quiz club od st John college on 10th march 2024 where miss Linotoli of BA6th sem and Mr Kehika of BA 2^nd sem emerged as he winner.

9. APRIL  2024.

1.  DGCSC  initiated a joint meeting with the DMC, F&CS Oriental colony council ,IQAC and principal on 2^nd april 2024 in the principals office to discuss the issue of the garbage being dumped near the college highway (NATIONAL HIGHWAY).
2. Miss Watinaro of BA 4^th Sem from the Pol Science dept who is also the girls commom secy of DGCSC achieved the best cosplayer and best performer (cosplay) in the annual charity day cum fete day organized by cultural committee pranabananda womens’ college on the 5th of April 2024 . she played the character of rito tsukimi representing our college .
3. The DGCSC took the initiative of cleaning the garbage near the college highway along with the colony council, directorate of food and civil supplies, Dimapur municipal council, DGC NCC and DGC NSS on 4^th April 2024.
4. DGCSC organized the 1^st general meeting with all students of BA B.Com on 9^th april 2024 . lot of issues pertaining to students welfare were discussed in the first general meeting.
5. The General secy of DGCSC met the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur who is also the chairman of the college on 12 April 2024 to discuss matters of the students welfare.
6. DGCSC general secy and asst. general secy met the honourable minister of higher & technical education and tourism on 25^th apriil . 2024 to discuss certain issues pertaining to the college welfare which included ;

A} reconstruction of the collapsed wall.
B} shortage of buses in the college .
C} shifting of the central library
D} introduction of science stream in the college.

7. DGCSC organized the 58th social parting program on 30^th April 2024 under the theme scribbling new paths. The occasion was graced by the deputy commissioner of Dimapur Dr Tinojongshi chang NCS. The DGCSC has always worked for the welfare of the students and will continue to work for the same

             8. The Asst. General secy. formed the anti-tobacco sqad to actively keep a check on he students chewing tobacco and littering the college campus. With this initative the college is now a tobacco free zone.
