Dimapur Government College Achieves Multidisciplinary Milestone
Dimapur Government College (DGC) achieved a significant milestone, as desired under NEP, through the introduction of Science Stream from the July session of 2025. The college already offers Arts and Commerce, and this addition makes it one of the few multidisciplinary colleges in Nagaland.
The courses that are currently offered include Major in Mathematics and Physics, and Minor in Chemistry and Computer Science. New courses are expected to be added in the future.
A short dedicatory program was held on 22nd July, 2025 in the Science Block. The Principal, Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir, welcomed the students, (totaling 38 in number), and the faculty and congratulated them on creating DGC history. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude particularly to the Honourable Minister, Shri Temjen Imna Along for bringing the long felt need of the college to fruition, supported by department officers of Higher Education Department and stakeholders of DGC.
The program was attended by students, staff, faculty and officials including Temjensoba Longkumer, PA to Hon’ble Minister and following members of the Core Committee for Introduction of Science Stream: Ms. N. Sentinungla Pongen, HoD of Philosophy. Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, Assoc. Professor and Coordinator, IQAC, Ms. Moamongla Aier, Assoc. Professor, Department of Political Science, Mr. T. George Kire, HoD of Commerce, Ms. Diethoseu Mepfhuo, HoD of Education and Mr. Ashok Jain, Sr. HA. The program ended with dedicatory prayer pronounced by Ms. N. Sentinungla Pongen.
