 Department of Mathematics

Established in 2025, the Department of Mathematics at Dimapur Government College aims to foster analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and quantitative skills among students. As a newly introduced department, it is committed to providing a strong academic foundation through the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) under Nagaland University.

Mathematics, being central to all scientific and technological disciplines, is taught not only as an abstract subject but also as a practical tool for solving real-world problems. Guided by the motto “Building Futures, One Equation at a Time,” the department emphasizes conceptual clarity, interdisciplinary learning, and the development of problem-solving abilities. With a focus on both academic rigor and student engagement, the department aspires to grow into a dynamic centre for mathematical education and inquiry.

Vision

To establish the Department of Mathematics as a vibrant academic unit that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a spirit of inquiry—empowering students to apply mathematical knowledge for personal growth, societal development, and interdisciplinary exploration.

Mission

  • To provide quality education in mathematics that builds strong conceptual foundations and practical skills.
  • To promote analytical and logical thinking through student-centered pedagogy, project-based learning, and continuous academic engagement.
  • To integrate mathematics with real-world applications by offering interdisciplinary, skill-enhancing, and value-added courses under the FYUGP framework.
