A farewell program was organised by the college in honour of retiring Principal Ms Kavili Jakhalu. Chaired by Dr Vitsosie Vupru, Asst Professor in Economics, the programme started with a special song from the students of DGC. Farewell Speeches were delivered by Ms Alemla, VP, DGC , Dr Maongsangba on behalf of DGCTA, Ms Kezhaleu Hesso on behalf HODs, Mr Ashok on behalf of ministerial staff, Ms Khrienuo on behalf of the Deptt of Political Science, Mr Viketo on behalf of DGC Students Council & Ms Mithu Lkr.
The speakers honoured Ms Jakhalu as one of the stalwarts of Higher Education who has contributed immensely in various capacities to the department throughout her career. Besides being a brilliant administrator she was also commended for her courage and open heartedness.
Ms Kavili Jakhalu in her speech thanked the faculty and staff for their support during her tenure at DGC. She also encouraged the teachers to never fall into complacency but to gauge the capacity of the students in order to teach at their level.. She urged the members of DGC to nurture and maintain the unigue spirit of teamwork which has brought the DGC family thus far.
A short video tracing Ms Jakhalu’s enduring friendship with colleagues and various achievements during her brief tenure at DGC was presented by Ms Meripeni Ngully, Asso.Professor in History. Ms Vivi Swu, Asst.Professor in History and DGC male faculty feted the retiring Principal with special numbers. The programme ended with benediction by Dr Hannah Tia, Asst.Professor in Sociology
