Inauguration of the 1st Batch of Craft Baking Course
The Inauguration of the 1st Batch of Craft Baking Course was held on 21st September 2026 in the Seminar Hall, Dimapur Government College. The programme was conducted by PM-USHA Monitoring Cell, DGC, in collaboration with Skill Development Committee, DGC, and funded by PM-USHA, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Ms. Keyilingbeu Zeliang, Assistant Professor, Dept of Psychology, chaired the programme. Mr. P. Supong Jamir, Associate Professor, Dept of History, delivered the welcome address, in which he welcomed the trainer and the participants.
Dr. Wabangnaro Imchen, Assistant Professor, Dept of Philosophy, and a certified home baker, addressed the gathering as the trainer. She shared her own baking journey, describing the trials and failures along the way and the creativity and perseverance that carried her through them. She outlined the two-week course and encouraged participants to go beyond learning the craft to making and selling their own products to earn a side income. The course drew an overwhelming response: 131 applications were received, of which 15 participants were selected for the first batch. It was announced that 99% attendance is required for certification.
Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, IQAC Coordinator, also spoke briefly. He urged the participants to make the best of the opportunity and to approach the course with commitment and seriousness. He announced that, depending on the performance of the first batch, more batches would be conducted in the coming days. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. T. Asenla Longkumer, Assistant Professor, Dept of History.
