The new DGC library constructed under RUSA and a Waiting Shed constructed through the goodwill donations of the Parents Association of DGC were inaugurated by Shri Temjen Imna Along, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education & Tribal affairs, Govt. of Nagaland on the 29th of April, 2022 in Dimapur Govt. College premises.
A short programme was held in the newly inaugurated library building which was chaired by the Principal, Dr. M. Libanthung Ngullie. DGC Evangelical Union sang the college anthem which was followed by a welcome address from the Principal. A short speech was delivered by Dr. Katoni Jakhalu, Director, Higher Education, Nagaland who recounted her days of teaching in the college when the very grounds where the new building stood was a jungle. She expressed joy at how times changed for the better for the college. Project report was presented by Hukato Sema, Executive Engineer (H) Education Division. Menuokholie Kire, State Project Director, RUSA, Nagaland and Jt. Director Higher Education, Nagaland, in a short speech, expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister for his leadership which made the completion of the new library possible.
In his speech, the minister hoped that the new library would act as a centre for excellence. He also reminded all that the property of the government is the property of the people and so the people are accountable for the safekeeping of such structures. He wished for a Nagaland that would be at the “forefront of the nation” through the “collective endeavour” of all irrespective of the tribe one may belong to.
