Monthly Research Seminar by Chemistry Department on 18-04-2026

Report on Monthly Research Seminar – 18.04.2026

The Monthly Research Seminar organised by Research & Development Cell (RDC) and sponsored by IQAC was conducted by the Department of Chemistry on 18.04.2026 at 12:00 PM in the Seminar Hall. The seminar was attended by 29 faculties. It was chaired by Dr. Hare Krushna Parhi, Associate Professor, Dept. of Education and the Convenor, RDC, DGC. the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Razouneinuo Soukhrie, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Psychology.

Dr. H. Atoholi Sema, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Chemistry presented the paper on the topic: Chiral amino catalysts in aldolization. In her presentation, the importance of organ catalysts for asymmetric reactions were highlighted. Different organ catalysts derived from amino acids were also presented. These organ catalysts finds its application in different reactions such as intramolecular and intermolecular aldolization. She spoke on the research work performed in the laboratory, where different amino catalysts were synthesized. Further, the application of such organ catalysts were used in aldolization reactions. Her research paper incorporated experimental spectral data to support the formation of chiral amino catalysts. Some essential and important spectral analysis such as 1H, 13C NMR, HPLC, etc., confirmed the structure of various compounds.

In conclusion, the seminar provided valuable insights. It was informative and thought- provoking, encouraging further exploration in this field. Also, different challenges such as nature of the work, lack of infrastructure, facilities and resources exists yet the speaker believed that with the support from all quarters one will be able to overcome such challenges.

The presentation was followed by question-and-answer session where faculty put up queries relating to the topic and general questions. Overall, it was a successful seminar.
