REPORT OF INTER-DEPARTMENTAL SEMINAR

The inter-departmental seminar of the Dimapur Govt. College was held on August 16, 2019. The seminar was organized by Political Science Dept & Research in collaboration with IQAC, DGC.

The chair for the seminar was Ms. Moamongla, Asstt. Prof, Dept. of Political Science who welcomed the gathering and introduced the seminar along with a brief opening remark. The title of the Seminar paper was, “THE STORY OF OUR LIFE: A COMMON NAGA PERSPECTIVE” and was presented lucidly by Ms. Bokali Kibami, Asstt. Prof, Dept of Political Science. She started with the Naga predicament in relation to the social, cultural, economic and political bring to focus the interruptions they suffered in the course of their processing of self-determination so also the confronting challenges. Article 371 (A) of the Indian Constitution as a provision which paved the way for the creation of statehood of Nagaland was also deliberated in the context of emerging economic challenges and the most recent abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A which has thrown open a new political spectrum for Nagaland and the Nagas in an uncertain pretext.

However, within all these challenges, of conflicts in their transition from tradition to modernity, her presentation provided an insight into the importance of retelling the Naga Past life and their associated stories which serves as a medium to assert justice in every sphere of Naga life so also for the younger to unlearn and relearn their past and the present trajectories of life.

The chair also gave the concluding remarks, and vote of thanks was given by Ms. Sedevino Jakhalu. The seminar was attended by the Principal, Vice Principal, faculty members and  students.
