The ICT Committee of Dimapur Government College organised a workshop on the theme “Designing E-courses on Effective Online Teaching” on the 3rd of July 2020 in the Seminar Hall of the College to prepare the faculty of the college for online classes.
The programme was moderated by E. Lichumthung Kikon, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. Dr. Moanochet Longchar, who was meeting the faculty for the first time after taking charge as Principal, DGC, delivered the keynote address and also took the time to share his thoughts on how the college has the potential to become the best educational institution in the State, providing Arts, Commerce and also Science in the near future. He also reminded all HoDs and Convenors to maintain their reports and submit to the IQAC in time for the NAAC assessment.
The Resource Person. Er. Shanchamo Yanthan, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Information Technology, SET-NU took over the rest of the session. He stated that the internet has changed learning-teaching platforms and that technology is learned only through practice. He demonstrated the processes of making E-contents, assignments, quizzes, generating responses and video conferencing using Google classrooms and Zoom apps. The possibility of using white boards and video editing apps were also suggested.
The workshop was an eye-opener for the participants who numbered around 44.
