REPORT ON DISASTER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM HELD AT DIMAPUR GOVT. COLLEGE ON 27.9.2019

An intensive program on Disaster Management was conducted today at the college premises by a team of 16 personnel led by Hav. Lipoksashi from Home Guards and Civil Defence, Dimapur, Govt. of Nagaland.

Before the start of the practical demonstration, Hav. Lipoksashi gave a detailed description about the importance of Disaster Management and also the need of having the knowledge about precautions and also disaster preparedness in the aftermath of disaster. The session started with all the students taking part in a mock evacuation process. This was followed by a two-hour long practical session in relation to four major concerns in the event of disaster like earthquakes, fire, floods etc. It included CPR/choking, emergency methods of rescue, bandaging and splinting. The students were also made to go through the drills to make better sense of the mock drills.

The program was chaired by Ms. Selina Walling, Asstt. Prof & HoD, dept. of EVS. The rationale of the program was shared by Mr. Biswajit Sarkar, Asstt. Professor & HoD, Commerce and vote of thanks was pronounced by Mr. N. Temjenmeren,  Asstt. Professor & Convenor of Disaster Management Committee of the college. On behalf of the college, The Disaster Management Committee thanked the personnels from the Home Guards and Civil Defence, Dimapur for conducting the disaster management program intensively. The program was organized by the Disaster Management Committee of the college and was sponsored by the IQAC.
