The 53rd Parting Social for B.A. & B.Com. 6th Semester Students of Dimapur Govt. College, was held today at the College auditorium. The programme was graced by Shri. Kevekha Kevin Zehol, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, as the Chief Guest. The chairperson of the programme Ms. Moamongla Aier, Assistant Professor, Department of Pol. Science, welcomed the gathering and brought the context of the programme by reflecting on the outgoing students who had joined the college three years back, full of dreams and aspirations.

Ms. Witadthiu Meriam, B.A. 6th Semester, who spoke on behalf of the outgoing students, said that a phase of life and study may have ended today for the outgoing students but it is also the beginning of another phase of learning towards the ultimate goal of success which will be the reward of the teachers’ hard labour.

Invoking blessings for the outgoing students, Ms. Suzzana Yaden, Assistant Professor, Department of English, exhorted from Psalms 23 and prayed for them. This was followed by felicitation of the outgoing students with souvenirs as a token for remembrance and good wishes.

The Principal of the College, Ms. Kavili Jakhalu, in her exhortation brought in context the three values from the life of Oprah Winfrey to challenge the students: “Knowing who you are and what you want to do,” “Go for the right thing” by focusing on greatness and serving others through one’s talent and “Always do the right thing”. She encouraged them to strive for excellence which takes courage, especially in the face of opposition and to create one’s own brand of excellence so they shall leave behind lasting impressions.

The College Annual Magazine “Pursuit,” published by the Magazine Committee, DGC, with Ms. Imtikokla, Assistant Professor in Economics as Convenor, was also released by the Chief Guest. In his speech, the Chief Guest drew the attention of the students towards the larger league of competition in the world of academia, and encouraged them to take the “small step for man” which will lead to the giant leap for mankind.

The programme which witnessed a myriad of presentations from the students, closed with the vote of thanks by Mr. Ajeih Konyak, AGS, DGCSC, and the singing of the College Anthem. Lunch was followed by a screening of the movie “I AM BANNI”, which promotes the social cause ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Mission and is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
